There are 67 children in my sonâs double size kindergarten class with two teachers. I am on the side of teachers.
Can they also fight to bring back a full day on Friday? Itâs so stupid that out of school care has to specifically be obtained for one day of the week. How does that help anybody?
lol what? why would that even be a thing. is it some weird justification on why they pay so low? âwell you get Fridays a half day⊠so 40% less payâ
I havenât been in Alberta for a long time so I donât know the history, but I assume âsaving moneyâ was the reason for the weird Fridays.
Itâs actually even worse for most students, but because my kid is in Kindergarten with a normal half day itâs sorta normal. When I was looking up the school hours it was half day Friday every other week with the other half of the days just being no school at all. For Kindergarten my school is doing the AM kids one week on Friday morning and the PM kids the other Friday. Just needlessly complicated.
It depends on the school board. Here in Calgary it appears that Fridays are early days off, but in Edmonton where I took school, Thursdays were when we had the short day.
Think it also depends on Catholic or Public school board, since I remember friends of mine who were in ECSB having a different day that was shorter. Canât remember what day it was though specifically.
