Most of my tram posts were about older models, such as the V3A. Well, the transit authority here in Bucharest also has a fleet of 100 modern low-floor trams, produced locally at Astra Arad. The vehicles are 36m long and are sporting a low-floor throughout its entire length. They feature many modern amenities, such as regenerative braking (part of the energy used to halt the tram is turned back into electricity and is reintroduced into the grid), AC, USB sockets and modern displays. The first vehicle in the series was produced in 2023, and the last one at the start of this year.
It has been restored for the same event as the 3 Tatras that I've previously mentioned. Apparently, this was the original livery, with the exception that it had a bigger logo in the front, and also the logo was applied diagonally across each of the three sections (on the left side). Not to mention, the top display was a matrix dotted one, instead of the current orange LED display. People not living in Bucharest might not be familiar with this, but STB, the local public transit authority, is still operating Tatra T4R trams from the 1950s. They're being gradually phased out as we speak, as they're replacing them with newer, longer, more accessible and more energy efficient vehicles, with modern amenities such as onboard LCD displays, USB plugs or AC.
