Context (Source): Early in 1943, Allied forces were massing along the coast of North Africa, preparing to make a push across the Mediterranean. They’d settled on strategically important Sicily as a target… but they needed to convince the Germans that they were aiming somewhere else.
Context (Source): In February of 1917, a dispatch from Berlin noted large packs of wolves moving into populated areas of the German Empire from the forests of Lithuania and Volhynia. Locals hypothesized that war efforts displaced the wolves, so the canines started seeking out new hunting grounds.
Context: Sir Cumming suggested the Secret Service Bureau use semen as invisible ink. This lead to his agents adopting the motto “Every man his own stylo” - A stylo being a fountain pen. Eventually the use of semen was stopped due to the smell giving it away.
