Explanation: The notion of Norse Vikings wearing horned helmets is a popular myth. Horned helmets, as a form of decorative intimidation worn by elites, was more common in much older bronze age societies across Europe, but the Norse are not recorded in contemporary medieval accounts as wearing horned helmets of any kind. Viking raiders were typically not interested in intimidation of that sort, where you and a champion from the neighboring tribe duke it out to show whose BLOOD is STRONGEST.
No, the Vikings were visiting people they hoped to never see again to plunder their goods and put a good damn bit of distance between them before they get the idea to form an army in retaliation! For that, you need PRACTICAL helmets - like the ones drawn! Something that some rando won’t get a lucky grab on and distract you long enough for his desperate peasant buddy to axe you in the face!
While the artist, AnonHistory, draws everyone as women because
hornygirls pretty, women warriors are attested to as a tradition amongst the Norse, both by Norse and foreign accounts.Skol :(
