Clocks with an hourly chime?

by
pemptago@lemmy.ml

I started using the hourly chime on my wrist watch and found it helps ground me. The trouble is the chime can be disruptive at night, and it’s tedious to turn it on and off every day. I’m hoping to find a clock (not a wrist watch)– of decent build quality– with an adjustable chime (volume and active window). I don’t care if the clock mechanisms are mechanical or not, so long as the chime is pleasant.

by

Ever since I connected my executive functioning issues to my ADHD, I’ve realized yet another hurdle has been added to my efforts to do shit: the idea that I am helplessly useless at doing things and that’s how things are. I literally end up paralyzed with fear at the idea I’ve internalized that I am simply bad at doing life, which makes me do bad at life.

[Question] What image best describes how you feel about your ADHD self? (context encouraged)

by
𝔗𝚎𝚑 𝔅𝚊𝚖𝚜𝚔𝚒@lemmy.world

(my context: I feel like my ADHD is a bit close to AuDHD, but doesn't have the consistency to make it on an official psychological evaluation. I experience a feeling of being 'broken in the head' to some degree. Examples include being fine with eating the same favorite meals for over a month, at least once a day. Sometimes twice a day. Another example would be the starting and stopping that I do. This applies to E V E R Y T H I N G, outside of the human basics.

I want a wall of various news informations that updates live in my browser (like in some movies...) is there one online somewhere?

by
Novamdomum@fedia.io
https://newsmap.ijmacd.com/?edition=US_en

My brain squirrels cannot sit still long enough to focus on an ordinary news/current affairs website. It's all so painfully slow and boring. There was (a long time ago) a java script wall of news from all over the world that updated in real time. It closed years ago and I never found anything similar. It was just a wonderful mosaic of headlines and stories that didn't sit still. The mosaic felt alive and if something caught your attention you better click on it before it turns into something else! You kind of see things like this in some movies, where they look at a wall of info on a big screen and everything is moving and updating. It's not waiting for clicks. You have to chase it! Is there anything like that or maybe a site that lets you construct a bunch of real time feeds that update constantly?

Concerta vs Adderall: Which One Should I Take?

by
SpiceDealer@lemmy.dbzer0.com

I've been thinking of getting back on meds to help concentrate more since I plan to take a Comptia certs course and exam. I've been doing somethings to improve my focus without meds but I really want to get my act together and actually do something with my life. I used to take Concerta when I was in middle and high school and it did improve my focus in class. The only major downside I faced was loss of appetite. Since I've been off meds, I've heard of people taking Adderall which piqued my interest but I don't how it differs from Concerta. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance.

School Tip: Sometimes "Preferential Seating Accomodations" can mean sitting in the BACK of the room.

by
Apytele@sh.itjust.works

When I was younger and got an ADHD diagnosis they kept trying to sit me in the front of the room so that I could pay attention better. It always made everything so much worse and as a child I could never articulate why. Turns out some things that were going on at home had already given me mild PTSD by the time I entered middle school. What was actually most distracting to me was the feeling of people behind me and not being able to see the door. When I was in college and could pick my own seating arrangements sitting in the back of the room away from everyone and where I could see the door made a huuuge difference.

Diagnosed with ADD in adult age! any tricks to keep motivation up and fucos?

by

Hey! just recently went to my psycologist, and i found alot of new things with me! ofc i had some things in background why it was so hard in school and social life and other things. but i found out that i was diagnosed with auditory memeory issue when i was 4 (and my parents never said anything to me when i was older). but that diagnose can also be a misdiagnose off add, which the test was not for. so ye, found out alot of my history and my current problems last couple of months, and got diagnosed with add well got kicked out of uni last year, had no motivation at all, and it was pain reading. so after some months, i went to psycologist about depression and fucos issue, and ye, pretty sure i have ADD with some languge diffuclitys, but not auditory memeoryproblem. wanted to killmyself so many times, and motivation for anything was just ass. and i guess it will take some time to fix it. do you have any tips what helped you, and how you find passion in school or job? :) thank you!

Anyone using both Dex and Ritalin?

So I've tried both, and they both work, but with different effects. The dex is the only thing that helps with executive function, that kick start to actually initiate tasks. But Ritalin is more effective in muting the mental noise which helps me stay focused longer. It also helps me regulate my emotions much better. I have young kids and life gets hectic, so ritalin helps be keep my cool in this moments. But I'm reluctant to give up the Dex (what I'm currently prescribed) because I need it most work days to get things moving.
