Iām not ADHD, at least not diagnosed, but the one that gets me is Iāll be coming in from outdoors thinking about the 12 little things I need to do right now (go pee, get tea started, clean dog bowls, put away the cups, fold the blanket, close blinds, and so on) and then next thing I hear is someone calling my name ācan you come hold this for me while I ā¦ā and suddenly that list Iāve meticulously curated and held in my short term memory for the past 10 minutes is just gone and now who knows when Iāll get around to checking if I need to put ketchup on the grocery list cause fuck if Iāll remember to do it any time soon.
Sounds about right, except I think with ADHD youāre probably struggling to hold one or maybe two things in your head.
Lol, yep. I was a little taken aback by that comment. 12 things? 12?! I need to start a physical list if I have more than two things to do.
My car has been sitting in the driveway with an electrical issue and hasnāt been fixed in a month because I literally donāt remember it until Iām laying in bed at night and all shops are closed. Fucking infuriating.
I had to learn that RAM is limited.. If there is more than a given task saved, it just overflows and looses stuff
My goal is to be more careful about what to keep in RAM and what I save onto my braindumb reminder list
Just go.
Get it done faster.
No time to stop.
This task is my master.
Iāll just check real quick first if clicking the first link in Wikipedia articles really does eventually lead to Philosphy.
More like I donāt want to complete task a that I had to abandon due to needs of business and probably only has 15 minutes of work, so Iāll push these other tasks around for the next 2 hours.
I looked at my phone once aaaaand gone was any focus on my work
good if you at least remember why did you grab the phone
to check the weather :) opens the calculator
Yeah. Checking messages and emails during lunch break
I thought today to call a restaurant and book a table for me and my wife. And then I wanted to fix some issue with my service i selfhost. I had time for both. Guess, what I havent done?
Answer:
None. I got distracted by other stuff.
I am un-diagnosed, so take it with a grain of salt (cause I sure do take it with a grain of salt every day)
If it takes 5-10 minutes just do it now. As my cleaning of the stove top took 30mins and shoveling the sidewalk took 20 minutes. The answer is to lie to yourself just to start
I mean, everyone else does; why shouldnāt I? š¤Ŗ
Thats a trauma response that manifests in NDs lvining in an NT world.
Itās not innate.
My ADHD family and I rush through things and interrupt each other because if we donāt were likely to forget something important that just popped into our mind. But by interrupting we made the other one forget what they were talking about.
Living in a world that isnāt adapted to my needs can be exhausting, but itās not the reason I rush through things. Thatās pretty innate to my neurodiversity.
Not all neurodivergents have ADHD.
Thatās absolutely true. If your comment had said āThat can be a trauma response that manifests in some NDs lvining in an NT world. Itās not always innate.ā I wouldnāt have replied.
There are a depressing number of people who make very absolute claims that all the problems of neurodiversity come from the world not being designed for them. While I understand why it sometimes feels like that, itās absolutely not true for many people with ASD, ADHD, etc.
Can someone else please translate your comment into English?
ND = NeuroDivergent
NT = NeuroTypical
Given that you donāt know that already, high likelihood you are neurotypical.
I⦠trust you know what the rest of the words mean.
š Try perusing through my comment history and delete that, lmao
This reminded me to call my bank, thank you
Wow, I feel this one to my soul.
I thought this was about the other neurodivergent urge, to rush B cyka blyat
I have to reach my target every day at work and Iām really struggling. So when Iām hitting my stride oh boy I dont get out of work until my focus runs out
Iām gonna go get that coffee
:D
2 seems to be the magic limit for me too. If I go to the grocery store for 3 or more things, 1 or more things will not be procured.
This is why I drive a tiny nimble sports car, so I can push my way past large clusters of drivers going 5-10 MPH under the speed limit (they never seem to be able to maintain their speed), who donāt understand that the passing lane is for passing.
I just want to coast down the highway at a comfortable 75 MPH with cruise control on and chill, with nobody tailgating and nothing in front of me but open road, but then other drivers have to show up with their inconsistent driving habits and ruin my fun.
Out of the cities Iāve driven in, LA has got to be my favorite, cause half of the drivers there are just as impatient as me! Within 30 seconds of hopping on the freeway youāll find some maniac weaving through rush hour traffic at 110 MPH. All you gotta do is follow them in their slipstream and pray that you make it to your destination alive and in one piece⦠Most fun Iāve ever had driving in my life! Canāt wait to go back.
Thatāll work great until someone doesnāt use their mirrors or blinker. Then, your face is on a projected slideshow above flower wreaths and tear-soaked questions. Winning, for sure.
You mean thereās a chance I can end my misery early and move on from this world sooner than expected? Bonus! :D
You just described how earning money works and also what we do to our planet (well, also our economy). Itās about exploitation of natural and human resources.
